CBA Upcoming Special Events

  • Adopt-a-Beach - October 1
    Join the YLS Environmental Law Committee, in association with the Alliance for the Great Lakes, and participate in an Adopt-a-Beach clean-up event on October 1 from 9:00 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Oak Street Beach, 1000 North Lake Shore Drive. Volunteers will remove litter and complete a beach health assessment form. Supplies for the clean-up will be provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring water. You must preregister as a volunteer online. Email Joey Barnett with questions.



 All members are invited to lunch with the Hon. James D. Egan, Motions Section, Circuit  Court of Cook County, on Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 at the CBA, from 12:15pm-1:30pm. The Judge will discuss courtroom decorum and how young lawyers can practice successfully in Court. Pizza Lunch provided. Limited to 100 persons. Please register in advance online.
  • YLS Serving Our Seniors - October 12
    As part of the Center for Disability & Elder Law's Senior Center Initiative, the YLS will host a "Serving Our Seniors" event on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Volunteers participating in the day-long program will earn CLE credit and have the opportunity to help low-income seniors draft estate planning documents, including powers of attorney for healthcare and property and living wills. Estate planning experience is NOT necessary.
    There will be a brief training from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the CBA office. Then volunteers will travel together via public transportation to the Alpha Tower Apartments, 936 E. 47th St., Chicago. If you would like to drive your own vehicle and are able to provide a ride to other volunteers, please let us know when you RSVP.
